Las Cruces, N.M. - The Nebraska men's golf team shot a team total of 596 through two rounds at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate on Monday. The Huskers followed their 287 in the first round with a 309 in the second round, putting them in a tie for 11th in the 15-team field at the New Mexico State University Golf Course.
Neil Dufford led the way for NU with 146 strokes after two rounds. He currently sits in 19th place, while Brett Nymeyer is in a tie for 28th. They each shot 69s in the first round, which stands as the lowest Husker round through 36 holes. Dufford followed up his 2-under round with a 77 and Nymeyer shot an 80. A trio of NU golfers sit in a tie for 46th place individually: Scott Willman, Andrew Wyatt and Mike Coatman. They each shot a two-round total of 152 on Monday.
The individual leader after 36 holes is Timothy Madigan of New Mexico State, who sits at 6-under 136. His team is also atop the leaderboard with their 574 total, 22 shots clear of Nebraska. Third round play will start on Tuesday with a 9 a.m. shotgun.
