Huskers in Sixth After First Round of Bill Ross Intercollegiate

Kansas City, Mo.Scott Willman shot a 1-over 73 at Blue Hills Country Club on Monday to lead the Huskers to a first round total of 301 at the UMKC Bill Ross Intercollegiate. Nebraska currently sits in sixth place out of 14 teams, and finds itself 10 shots off the pace set by tournament host UMKC.

There were two separate thunderstorm delays in the afternoon that forced the players off the course for about two hours. The players started on their second round, but have approximately eight holes remaining. Play will resume Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m., with the final round immediately following.

In addition to Willman’s round of 73, sophomore Neil Dufford added a 74 to the NU total. Willman is tied for ninth overall and Dufford is tied for 12th. Brett Nymeyer shot 76, which put the senior in a tie for 32nd individually. Lincoln native Mike Coatman sits in a tie for 46th with his 78 in the first round, while Andrew Wyatt carded a 79 for the Huskers. Individual Brett Sundberg also shot a 79, and sits in a tie for 54th.
