Normal, Ill. - The Nebraska men's golf team returns to action this weekend at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate. The two-day 54-hole event will be contested at the Weibring Golf Club on Illinois State's campus. The championship course is a 6,915-yard par 71 layout.
The tournament will begin on Saturday morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The second round will tee off immediately following the first round. Sunday's final round will tee off with a shotgun at 8:45 a.m.
In addition to the Huskers, the 18-team field consists of Akron, Bradley, DePaul, Creighton, Detroit-Mercy, Drake, Illinois, Iowa State, Louisville, Loyola, Missouri State, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, SIUE, Western Illinois and Illinois State.
The Huskers will look to improve on their solid start to the fall season. Last week, Nebraska took second at the Kansas Invitational, finishing 11 shots off the pace. Prior to that, the Huskers finished third at the Fairway Club Invitational, while senior Mike Coatman earned medalist honors.
Head Coach Bill Spangler said, "As a team, we want to put ourselves in position each and every tournament to have an opportunity to play for the title on the last day."
