Huskers Complete Play at Virginia Ranked Plus One Invitational

Charlottesville, Va.---The Nebraska men's tennis team wrapped up its' second fall tournament of 2010 on Sunday, Sept. 26, completing play at the UVa Ranked Plus One Invitational in Charlottesville, Va. The Huskers' top performance of the weekend came from junior Benedikt Lindheim (NU), who reached the semifinals of the A-1 singles bracket.

After defeating No. 82 Charles Bottoni on Friday, Lindheim advanced to the semifinals after No. 27 Drew Courtney (UVa) withdrew himself from the quarterfinals match. In the semifinals, Lindheim faced off against another nationally ranked opponent No. 44 Jamie Pulgar (NCSU), but couldn't pull off the victory losing in a tough three set match 4-6, 6-2, 7-5. Lindheim leads the team with five victories this fall.

In the A-2 singles bracket, Andre Stenger (NU) fell in the first match of the fifth place bracket to end his tournament. After winning his first round match over Chris Mengel (Duke), Stenger lost consecutive matches to No. 52 Luka Somen (VT) and Andy Gauthier (Corn).

In the A-4 doubles bracket, Hopkins/Leslie (Wake) took down Calin Paar and Stenger 9-7 in a tightly contested consolation final.

The Huskers will continue their fall season on Oct. 2 when they travel to Tulsa, Okla., for the ITA All-American Championships. A complete list of results from this weekend's tournament is below.
