The Nebraska men's tennis team will continue its' fall season this weekend when they travel to Charlottesville, Va., for the second time in three weeks to participate in the UVa Ranked Plus One Invitational. The Huskers played in Charlottesville at the UVa Fall Classic earlier this fall. NU will take four student-athletes to the event hosted by the University of Virginia, including No. 49 Calin Paar, Benedikt Lindheim, Andre Stenger, and Sebastian Florcyzk.
Stenger and Lindheim are both coming off impressive showings at the UVa Fall Classic to lead the Huskers. Stenger won three matches including his third place match over Rafael Paez (NCSU) 7-5, 6-1, while Lindheim battled back to win the back draw of his bracket after dropping his first match of the tournament. Florcyzk will kick off his Husker career this weekend as the German-native has yet to play at match for NU.
The tournament will be a challenge for the Huskers as 28 nationally ranked players are set to participate, along with 11 NCAA Singles Championship qualifiers from last season. The tournament will consist of four 16-player "A" singles brackets, which are evenly weighted, along with one "B" flight for extra players participating. Matches will begin at 8 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 24 and run through Sunday, Sept. 26. All matches will be played at the Snyder Tennis Center.
