Husker Soccer Conducts Clinic at 2010 National Games

Lincoln - Seventeen members of the Nebraska soccer team spent Wednesday evening conducting a two-hour clinic for participants of the 2010 Special Olympics National Games, which are being held this week in Lincoln.

Organized by NU administrative assistant coach Geoff Weller, more than 200 athletes from at least 15 states converged on the Mabel Lee Fields on the UNL campus. The participants rotated around five stations to learn soccer skills and drills from the 2010 Huskers and members of the NU coaching staff. The clinic ended with a scrimmage that included NU players and an autograph session.

In addition to his role with the Husker soccer program, Weller is a Senior Program Director for the Lincoln YMCA and is heavily involved with the soccer portion of the 2010 National Games.

The Huskers open fall camp the first week of August. Nebraska's lone exhibition game is Aug. 15 at Denver, while the season opener is Aug. 22 at New Mexico.
