Crick Ties for Eighth at NCAA West Regional

Bremerton, Wash. - Nebraska senior Brandon Crick's collegiate career came to an end Saturday with a tie-for-eighth finish at the NCAA West Regional at the Gold Mountain Golf Club Olympic Course. Crick carded a final round of 73 to finish at 215 (-1) for the tournament.

Richard Lee of Washington captured the individual title at 208 (-8) to lead the Huskies to the team title with an 844 (-20) team score. Teammate Chris Williams, aided by a hole-in-one on No. 8, finished second at 210 (-6).

Denver's Espen Kofstad tied for third and captured the individual berth in the NCAA Championships set for June 1-6. Kofstad recorded a 211 (-5) to edge VCU's Lanto Griffin by two strokes for the individual spot.

Crick ended his season with a 72.23 stroke average, just shy of the school record 72.17 average set by Jamie Rogers in 1999.

The Huskies will be joined at the NCAA Championships by USC, San Diego, Oregon State and Illinois, who all finished in the top five in the West Regional. From the other five regionals around the nation, Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Stanford and Oregon captured titles. Texas A&M is the fourth Big 12 team at the NCAA Championships, as the Aggies finished second in the South Central Regional.
