Nebraska standout men's golfer Brandon Crick was selected to participate in the NCAA West Regional next week, the NCAA announced on Monday in its release of the 81 teams plus individuals selected for the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
Crick earned the No. 3 individual seed in the West Regional and will compete beginning May 20 at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash. Top-seeded and Pac-10 Conference champion Washington will play host.
Despite earning two tournament wins, two tournament runner-ups, a No. 79 ranking in the Golfweek/Sagarin ratings and a No. 82 ranking in the Golfstat poll, the Huskers as a team were left out of the 81-team field.
Crick is rated No. 153 in the nation by the Golfweek/Sagarin ratings and is No. 86 in the Golfstat standings. The senior from McCook, Neb., led NU with a 72.27 stroke average on the season and earned first-place finishes at the Jackrabbit Invitational and Mizzou Intercollegiate, leading NU to victories in both events. Crick earned five top-five finishes on the season and scored 19 rounds under par.
