Philadelphia, Pa. ? After a busy day for the Nebraska track and field team at the Penn Relays on Friday, the Huskers returned to Franklin Field on Saturday for two events, the 4x100-meter relay and 110-meter hurdles.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
Lehann Fourie continued to run well in the hurdles, as the Pretoria, South Africa native placed second in the championship division of the event. Fourie ran neck and neck with LSU’s Barrett Nugent throughout the entire 110 meters, but fell short of the Bayou Bengals’ winning time of 13.58 with a time of 13.62. The time improved on Fourie’s previous season best of 13.67, which he ran at the Spec Towns National Team Invitational in Athens, Ga. Tyrell Ross added a fifth-place showing in the 110 hurdles, running 14.06.
After running 40.70 yesterday in the 4x100-meter relay preliminaries, NU ran in the consolation final Saturday afternoon, but was unable to finish due to a failed exchange.
The Huskers will be back on the road next weekend when they travel to Lubbock, Texas, for a dual with the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Saturday, May 1 at Noon (Central). The Huskers and Red Raiders were set to dual during the indoor and outdoor season, but severe weather during the end of January in Texas made it not possible for Texas Tech to make its way to Lincoln.
