Registration Available for Doc Sadler Camps/Clinics

For parents getting a jumpstart on summer scheduling for their children, now is the time to reserve a space at the 2010 Doc Sadler Camps and Clinics. Registration is easier than ever by signing up on-line.

For the fourth straight year, coach Doc Sadler and his staff will put on a total of nine camps and clinics for boys and girls of all ages and skill levels. The camps and clinics run between June 14 and July 1 and will include coaching from the Husker staff, players from the 2009-10 Nebraska squad as well as high school and college coaches from around the region.

"We've had a great time working with the younger players in the area as they improve their basketball skills the past three years, and I look forward to it again this summer," Sadler said. "I think these camps have been successful because they give kids a chance to play live games and get better with more interaction and instruction."

The first camps this year will run June 14-17 with the Little Dribblers Camp for ages 5-8 (mornings, 10 a.m. to Noon) and the Mini-Husker Camp for ages 8-18 (afternoons, 1:30-5 p.m.) running concurrently at the Devaney Center. The camps will focus on fundamentals of the game and live game action.

Day Camp for boys and girls ages 8-18 will run June 21-24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. This camp has an emphasis on shooting, dribbling, passing and defense and includes extensive instruction, drills and game play, including 5-on-5 team games. Players are grouped according to age, height and ability level.

The Doc Sadler Basketball Camps also include an individual overnight camp and a team camp. Each will provide great opportunity for highly competitive game situations, with the overnight camp having an emphasis on improving technique and understanding of basic fundamental principles of individual and team play.

The team camp will be June 26-27 while overnight camp will run June 27-30. Every team must have an accompanying coach and at least eight players. Reservations are required for team camp.

The specialty clinics will include a Ballhandling and Shooting Clinic and a Post Player Clinic open to all children ages 8 to 18. Session I for each clinic will be on June 25 at the Devaney Center and Session II will be on July 1 at the UNL Recreation Center.
