Huskers Take on No. 1 Baylor in Final Home Match
The Nebraska women's tennis team, off to one of its best starts in team history, plays its final two home matches this weekend, including against Texas Tech on Friday and against No. 1 Baylor on Sunday. The Huskers are looking to maintain their perfect 5-0 conference mark, and will also try to defeat a No. 1-ranked team for the first time in school history.
Nebraska defeated Iowa State last weekend to go to 5-0 in the Big 12, which ties them with Baylor for the top spot in the conference standings. The Huskers have never finished above third place in the Big 12, and two wins this weekend would put them in prime position to make a historic run.
Texas Tech comes into Lincoln with a 6-9 overall and 1-4 Big 12 record. The Red Raiders have lost two straight Big 12 matches and five of their last six matches overall, but will look to rebound against the Huskers, who they haven't beaten since 2007.
No. 1 Baylor has won 10 straight matches but has a Friday showdown against No. 5 Northwestern before heading to Lincoln on Sunday. The Bears have won 36 consecutive Big 12 regular season matches, and is the five-time reigning Big 12 regular season champions.
