Turner to Compete in Three-Point Contest at Men's Final Four

Lincoln - Nebraska's Yvonne Turner will compete in the 22nd Annual State Farm College Slam Dunk and Three-Point Championships on Thursday, April 1, in Indianapolis in association with 2010 NCAA Men's Final Four.

Turner, a 5-8 senior guard from Omaha, will compete in the State Farm women's three-point contest against Notre Dame's Ashley Barlow, Oregon's Taylor Lilley, Vanderbilt's Merideth Marsh, Loyola-Chicago's Maggie McCloskey, St. John's Kelly McManmon, Detroit Mercey's Brigid Mulroy and Colorado's Bianca Smith.

The three-point competition and the slam dunk contest will take place on Thursday, April 1, at 7 p.m., in Bracket Town at Spalding Arena, which is located at the Indiana Convention Center. Celebrity judges for the events will include Gary Brackett and Eric Foster of the Indianapolis Colts, Danny Granger and Dahntay Jones of the Indiana Pacers, among others.

ESPN will broadcast the event on Thursday, April 1 from 9 to 11 p.m., with Brad Nessler, Jimmy Dykes and Holly Rowe providing comment and observations about the contests.

Turner closed her career as one of the top three-point shooters in Nebraska history with 183 career threes. She ranked second only to Kiera Hardy on Nebraska's career chart, while her 82 three-pointers as a senior ranked third in the Husker record book. She matched Iowa State's Kelsey Bolte for the Big 12 Conference lead with 2.8 threes per game in league play this season, and finished the year with a 36.4 three-point shooting percentage.

Turner, who earned first-team All-Big 12 honors after averaging, 13.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.4 steals per game in conference action, was also the 2010 Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of the Year. The Bellevue East graduate and former Nebraska High School Player of the Year was a three-time Big 12 All-Defensive Team selection as a Husker.

A three-year starter, Turner helped the Huskers to the best season in school history in 2009-10, as Nebraska won its first-ever Big 12 regular-season title with a perfect 16-0 record and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 before closing the year with a 32-2 record.

If Turner can defeat her opponents in the women's three-point contest, she will advance to compete against the men's three-point winner in the "Battle of Champions."

Tickets for the slam dunk and three-point championships can be purchased for $25 for adults and $15 for children and are on sale now at the Lucas Oil Stadium box office until the day of the event. On Thursday, April 1, tickets can be purchased at the Indiana Convention Center.
