After two weeks away from competition, the Nebraska soccer team hits the road for the third time in the past month to continue its 2010 spring schedule with a pair of matches against the Virginia Cavaliers in Charlottesville, Va. The Huskers and Cavaliers will meet twice this Sunday, squaring off at 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Nebraska is 1-2-1 this spring against a tough slate of non-conference opponents, each of whom qualified for the 2009 NCAA Tournament. This week will be no exception, as Virginia reached the Sweet 16 last fall before it was eliminated by No. 4 UCLA. The Cavs finished the season with a 10-5-6 record.
In Nebraska's last outing (March 6), the Huskers split a pair of matches in Tempe, defeating the defending Mountain West Conference champion BYU Cougars, 1-0, but falling to the Arizona State Sun Devils, 2-0. After this week, NU will only have one road trip remaining (April 11 in Milwaukee) before ending its spring schedule in-state against Minnesota and Creighton the weekend of April 17.
