Irving, Texas—Nebraska right fielder Adam Bailey was honored Monday as the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Player of the Week in voting by a panel of media covering the conference. It is Bailey’s second weekly honor, while Texas’ Brandon Workman was selected as the pitcher of the week.
Bailey earned the honor after hitting .562 (9-for-16) with two homers and eight RBIs in four games last week. He totaled four multi-RBI games and three multi-hit contests while posting a 1.063 slugging percentage and a .611 on-base percentage. Bailey went 7-for-11 with two homers, two doubles and six RBI in the three-game series at No. 2 Texas over the weekend. He had three hits, including a homer, in Friday’s opener before driving in two runs with a two-run homer the following day to propel NU to a 5-3 win.
Bailey and the Huskers open a two-game series with Northern Colorado beginning Tuesday. First pitch is set for 4:05 p.m. while Wednesday’s game is a 1:35 p.m. start. Both games will be carried on selected Husker Sports Network stations and on Huskers.com.
