Florence, Ariz. - The Nebraska women's golf team is tied for sixth place after it fired a 309 team score in the second round of the Northern Migration Invitational at Poston Butte Golf Club on Tuesday.
Mary Kate Bird is in a tie for 22nd place after a second-round 78 put her at 152 for the tournament. JC Stevenson led NU on the day with a one-over-par 73, which moved her into a tie with two other Huskers - Erin Sharpee and Maddie Sheils - for 27th at 153.
Sharpee recorded a 79 on the day while Sheils carded a 77. Charlotte Wendner rounded out the NU lineup with an 83. She is tied for 95th.
Kayla Knopik is tied for 69th after a 79 in the second round gave her a 159 total. Carolyn Schorgl scored an 81 and heads into the final round in a tie for 88th at 164.
The Huskers trail Texas-San Antonio by 16 strokes heading into Wednesday's final round. UTSA, Idaho and Minnesota are all within two strokes of each other for the team lead. Idaho's Kayla Mortellaro maintains a five-stroke lead after shooting 70 on Tuesday for a 36-hole total of 138.
The final round begins Wednesday with tee times starting at 6:46 a.m. (Mountain time). Teams will tee off from holes 1 and 10 to speed up the pace of play. Huskers.com will have a full recap of the day's action at the conclusion of the tournament.
