Columbia, Mo. - The Nebraska swimming and diving team fell to the No. 21 Missouri Tigers 203-93 on Saturday afternoon in Columbia, Mo., in the team's final regular season event. The Huskers struggled and were never able to get on track throughout the day, and fell to 4-3 in dual meets this season, including 1-2 in the Big 12.
Nebraska's Mariah Hutchinson had a pair of second-place finishes on the day, giving her 21 top-two finishes on the year. Her time of 2:05.49 in the 200-yard butterfly was less than a second off the first-place time and she finished less than half a second behind the winner in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 52.57.
Kaitlin Arntz also had two second-place finishes, in the 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard IM. Other second place finishers for the Huskers were Amy Herman (Three Meter Dive), Jehan Atoe (200-yard backstroke), Caroline Shea (500-yard freestyle) and Kelsey Grushecky (100-yard butterfly).
Despite the team struggles, the Huskers posted several season-best individual times, giving the team some momentum heading into the Big 12 Championships.
The Huskers finished the year with a 4-3 dual record, including a 1-2 mark in the Big 12. Nebraska will have nearly three weeks off from competition before traveling to College Station, Texas, for the Big 12 Championships on Feb. 24-27.
