College Station, Texas - Nebraska's Kaitlin Arntz put in another career performance at Friday morning's preliminary session at the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships when she swam the second-fastest 100-yard breaststroke time in the field. Arntz beat her previous career-best by over a second and vaulted into third on the all-time Nebraska charts with her time of 1:00.99. Overall on the day, the Huskers qualified 10 scoring finalists and are in prime position to make a run during Friday evening's finals session.

Nebraska's Brandie Kavalec and Blaine Hoppenrath each made it into the "B" Finals of the 400-yard IM, the first event of the day. Hoppenrath swam a season-best time of 4:33.52 and Kavalec nearly beat her season best-time and swam a time of 4:30.61. The duo represent the 15th and 16th fastest preliminary times in the field and will compete in the "B" Finals on Friday evening.

100 Butterfly
Mariah Hutchinson and Kelsey Grushecky each made it into the "B" Finals of the 100-yard butterfly after each swam season-best times. Grushecky had the 12th-fastest time in the field and clocked in with a time of 55.17, while Hutchinson was just behind her in 13th with a time of 55.42. Meredith Matthies made it in to the "C" Finals with a career-best time of 56.77.

200 Freestyle
Caroline Shea made it into the "B" Finals of the 200-yard freestyle with the 16th-fastest preliminary time, notching a career-best time of 1:51.89, just beating out Iowa State's Frances Calzada for the eighth and final spot in the "B" Finals. Claire Desormey made it into the "C" finals as she set a season-best time of 1:53.99.

Kaitlin Arntz put in a top-five all-time performance for the second time this week when she swam a career-best 1:00.99 in the 100-yard breaststroke, which is third all-time at Nebrask and beats her previous career best by over a second. Arntz earned the second-fastest preliminary time and earned a spot in the "A" finals on Friday evening with her efforts. Arntz also set a top-five career NU time when she finished with the second-fastest 200-yard IM time on Thursday. Hailey Dean and Kelsey Larson made it into the "B" Finals for the Huskers in the event.

Five of the six Huskers swimming in the 100-yard backstroke set career-best times, led by Ellan Dufour who put in the 14th-fastest preliminary time in the field, finishing with a time of 55.69. Hayley Martin also made it into the "B" finals with a time of 56.69.
