Lincoln -- With the first pitch of the season less than a month away, the Husker Home Run Club is sponsoring the Home Run Club preseason banquet. The annual preseason banquet will take place next Friday, Feb. 5, at the Cornhusker Hotel (333 South 13th Street) in downtown Lincoln.
The event, which will raise money for the Husker Home Run Club, includes dinner and remarks from Husker Head Coach Mike Anderson and the NU coaching staff. The event begins with a social hour and silent action at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m.
The evening’s featured speaker will be former Husker baseball player and personality McGraw Milhaven, who has hosted a morning talk show in St. Louis for the past nine years. He has been named one of the best talk show hosts in the country by Talkers Magazine and has appeared on Fox News, CNN and MSBNC covering local and national stories.
The event will also feature an auction with numerous items, including autographed jerseys by Husker Major Leaguers Alex Gordon, Brian Duensing and Joba Chamberlain, tickets to this fall’s Nebraska-Texas football game, a pair of skybox tickets to a 2010 Husker football game, College World Series tickets, a Husker Helicopter ride for two and an overnight stay at The Cornhusker Marriott.
The cost of the banquet is $50 per person or $450 for a table of 10 and all proceeds from the event will go to the Husker Home Run Club, and its support of the Nebraska baseball program. Invitations were sent to Home Run Club members and season ticket holders earlier this month, and a limited number of seats are still available for this annual event.
