Vanden Bosch to Represent Nebraska in Pro Bowl

Former Nebraska Blackshirt and current Tennessee Titans defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch has been added to the AFC roster for this weekend's Pro Bowl. The contest will be played on Sunday evening from Miami's Sun Life Stadium.

Vanden Bosch will be making his third appearance in the Pro Bowl in the past five seasons, after also playing in the contest in 2005 and 2007. He will start for the AFC opposite fellow defensive end Mario Williams of the Houston Texans. Vanden Bosch was named to the Pro Bowl on Monday after Indianapolis defensive ends Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney withdrew following the Colts advancing to Super Bowl XLIV on Feb. 7.

The 6-4, 278-pound Vanden Bosch is in his ninth season in the National Football League and his fifth season with the Titans. In 2009, Vanden Bosch racked up 44 tackles, including 32 solo stops, while adding three sacks and a pair of forced fumbles. He has been considered a leader on the Titan defense for several seasons.

Vanden Bosch becomes the 10th Nebraska player to appear in at least three Pro Bowls, including fellow defensive linemen Neil Smith and John Dutton. Nebraska has had at least one player appear in the Pro Bowl in 18 of the past 19 seasons.

Vanden Bosch had a standout career at Nebraska from 1997 to 2000. He played in 46 career games with 22 starts and totaled 34 tackles for loss and 13 sacks. He had 56 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and 26 quarterback hurries as a senior in 2000.

The 2010 Pro Bowl will be televised by ESPN on Sunday evening with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. (CST).
