Caniglia, Jamani Earn Undergraduate Degrees

Husker soccer players Anna Caniglia and Aysha Jamani were among 35 Nebraska student-athletes who earned their bachelor's degrees from the University of Nebraska during winter commencement ceremonies at the Devaney Center on Saturday morning.

Caniglia graduated from UNL with a marketing degree, capping an academic career in which she was named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll all six semesters to date. The Omaha native was also a two-time first-team academic All-Big 12 selection.

On the field, Caniglia was one of the most consistent Husker soccer players ever, starting all 79 games of her career, tied for the eighth-most in school history. She had a breakout senior season that included a hat trick in Nebraska's 7-4 win at Kansas this year. Caniglia transitioned from defender to midfielder in 2009 and led the Huskers with nine assists to go along with five goals.

Jamani graduated with a degree in business administration. She was a 2008 first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection and earned a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll five times.

A native of Calgary, Alberta, Jamani was one of the most dangerous offensive threats in recent Husker history. The forward racked up 41 points by scoring 15 goals and notching 11 assists with nearly 200 career shots. Jamani was a three-time All-Big 12 honoree, including a spot on the First Team in her 2008 senior season when she also earned NSCAA All-Central Region honors.

Nebraska's 2009 December class of graduates helped build on the Huskers' great student-athlete tradition, which includes an NCAA-leading 271 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans across all sports. Nebraska continues to feature one of the highest graduation rates in the nation with a Big 12-leading exhausted eligibility graduation rate of 94 percent.
