Gleadall Leads Huskers in Texas

Austin, Texas - Natalie Gleadall tied for 18th individually to lead the Nebraska women's golf team to an 11th-place finish in a talented 21-team field at The Challenge at Onion Creek on Tuesday afternoon.

Gleadall, a sophomore from Stratford, Ontario, Canada, posted her fifth consecutive top-25 finish to close Nebraska's fall schedule. Gleadall fired rounds of 74, 71 and 70 on the 5,938-yard, par-70 layout on the North Course at the Onion Creek Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday to finish with a three-round total of 215.

Fellow sophomore Maddie Sheils tied for 32nd with a three-round total of 219 (72-75-71), while true freshman Erin Sharpee tied for 42nd at 219 (72-73-74).

Seniors Charlotte Wendner (72-76-77-225) and JC Stevenson (81-73-74-228) rounded out the NU contingent.

Texas A&M won the team title with strong second and third rounds after falling 21 strokes behind San Francisco in the opening round. The Aggies won the tournament with a one-under-par 54-hole score of 839 (286-275-278). San Francisco finished three shots back in second place at 842, despite shooting an amazing first round with a 15-under-par 265 on Monday morning.

The hosts from Texas State took third (863), while Texas finished fourth (864). Although Nebraska finished 11th as a team at 871, the Huskers were just eight shots out of third place and five of the teams that finished ahead of the Huskers were ranked among the top 50 in the GolfStat head-to-head rankings.

The Challenge at Onion Creek was Nebraska's fifth and final tournament of the Huskers' fall campaign. NU will return to the course for the spring season at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate, Feb. 21-23, in Kiawah Island, S.C.
