Wide Receiver Keithen Valentine

On how he felt after the game

“Bad. I feel bad. I can't even describe it. We lost the game for one. Another one, they called my number and I wasn't ready. I put the ball on the ground in a critical situation."

On his fumble

"I was wide open. I caught the ball and the safety, he just did a good job of hitting the ball. I should have held on to it. I dropped it."

On the season overall

"We had a lot of ups and downs. It was a roller coaster. We had a chance to end it good and we didn't take care of it. I just feel bad because we worked so hard, and now it's over."

Wide Receiver Brandon Banks

On playing under Bill Snyder

“It means a lot. He was like my second father. I talk to him a lot and just get advice from him. It's an honor to play under him and the things he did for this program, so I'm happy to play under him."

On what the team can take from this season

"The foundation is going to go up from now. (Coach Snyder) knows what he's doing and he knows how to win. We're going to build from this last season and the underclassmen are going to step up hopefully."

On what went wrong at the end of the season

"We didn't score a touchdown in two games. In the BIg 12, you've got to score touchdowns to win. Unfortunately we didn't score a touchdown, so we fell short."

On how frustrating the loss is

"I think throughout the season we were building each week and just learning from our mistakes and trying to correct it. To fall short like we did the past two games, not scoring a touchdown, from what I know we're capable of doing, it's pretty frustrating."

Defensive Tackle Jeffrey Fitzgerald

On the loss

“It's very tough right now. We definitely wanted to come out on top of the game. We had a lot riding on it. I felt like we worked too hard to have it end right now. But that's the way it goes. Nebraska played a great game and deserve to be the champions today."

On the season overall

"We had a lot of ups and downs. We just continued to fight throughout the whole time. We just fell a little short, so in my eyes, it's somewhat of a failure. I hope the future can really build on this. We had a great season, especially to build from."

On if the defense took positive steps this season

"Most definitely. We came a long ways from day one, so hopefully they can continue to build from it. We've got a lot of young guys out there who were getting a lot of playing time. Next year they should really be ready to go."
