Huskers Wrap Up First Intrasquad

Lincoln-The Nebraska women's gymnastics team held an intrasquad meet Friday to prepare for the 2010 season. The Huskers worked through beam, floor exercise, vault and uneven bars before a full house at Mabel Lee Hall. Coach Dan Kendig saw the intrasquad as a great opportunity for his team to grow.

"We hit a lot of routines tonight," Kendig said. "I wasn't nervous coming in because I knew we were prepared and I know what we are capable of. I'm very confident in this team and I know we need to just stay working to get to where we want to be."

Kendig noted that the biggest asset of holding an intrasquad is the experience the girls get performing in front of a crowd. He's excited for what this season will bring and hopes the fans can see the potential of the team as well.

"This is exciting," Kendig said. "We just need everyone to get on board. It's going to be a great season and I know the girls are looking forward to having a successful campaign."

The Huskers will hold a second intrasquad on Dec. 6 at 4 p.m. and open the season at Washington on Jan. 8. Nebraska's home opener is Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. against Minnesota and Illinois at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. NU also hosts the 2010 Big 12 Championships on March 27.
