Session 1: Huskers Finish 1-2 in 400 Freestyle Relay

Lincoln - Nebraska took the top two spots in the 400-yard freestyle relay at the first session of the Husker Invitational on Thursday evening. Rice leads the meet after one session with 152 points, while Nebraska is in second with 130 points.

Rice took four of the top five times in the first event of the day, the 1,650-yard freestyle, led by Alex O'Brien's first-place finish. Brandie Kavalec of Nebraska came in third in the event with a time of 17:24.17. Nebraska's Mailene Leslie came in sixth and Blaine Hoppenrath finished 10th.

The Huskers finished 1-2 in the 400-yard freestyle relay, as the "A" relay team finished just ahead of the "B" team. Rice took third and the Nebraska "C" relay team finished fourth.

The Husker Invitational continues on Friday morning with a preliminary session starting at 10 a.m. Friday's finals session is set for a 5 p.m. start.
