Nebraska Set to Host Husker Invitational
The Nebraska swimming and diving team is set to host the third annual Husker Invitational this weekend, running from Thursday, Nov. 19 to Sunday, Nov. 22. All seven sessions of the Invite will be at the Devaney Natatorium.
Three teams will join the Huskers to make up the four-team field, including UNO, Rice and South Dakota State. The field is less than half as big as it was last season, when eight teams made the trip to Lincoln for the weekend.
The Invite will be split up into seven sessions, starting out with a finals-only session on Thursday at 5 p.m. The next three days will have both a morning preliminary session and an evening finals session, culminating with the seventh and final session of the event at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
The Huskers finished fifth at last year's Husker Invitational after taking first place in 2007. Last year, Rice won the Invitational with 1,200 points. South Dakota State and Nebraska-Omaha were also at the Inviational last year, as SDSU finished sixth and UNO finished 8th.
The Huskers have next weekend off as the school is off for Thanksgiving break. The team returns to the pool on Dec. 4-6 when it travels to Columbia, Mo., for the Missouri Invitational. NU's next home meet is on Dec. 12 against South Dakota State.
