Twelve Huskers produced a hit, 11 scored a run and nine produced an RBI in the offensive outburst. Sophomores Jamie Gay and Ashley Guile, along with senior Whitney Barrett each produced three hits in the win. Sophomore slapper Nikki Haget produced a game-high four RBIs, while Gay and junior Robin Mackin added three RBIs apiece. Freshman Megan Southworth led the way with four runs scored.

NU took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Sophomore Jamie Gay reached on a one-out single before Guile followed with a double to center. With runners at second and third, junior Heidi Foland brought Gay home with a sacrifice fly to right.

The Huskers added two more runs in the second with a two-out rally. With the bases loaded and two down, Mackin drew a walk to score senior Alex Hupp, who had reached on a one-out double. Gay then followed with a two-run single up the middle that scored Barrett and freshman Keela Scott to give NU a 3-0 lead.

Nebraska struck again in the third. Foland led off with a double and after the Bruins recorded an out, Southworth singled and Hupp walked to load the bases. Haget then drew another walk to bring junior pinch-runner Tori Tyson home. With the bases still loaded, Barrett lined a 2-1 pitch into center for an RBI single that gave the Huskers a 6-0 lead. Mackin then ripped a two-run single to cap the four-run inning and give NU an 8-0 lead.

The Huskers made it 11-0 in the fourth with another two-out rally. With a runner on first and two outs, NU drew three consecutive walks, including a bases-loaded walk from sophomore pinch-hitter Madison Drake that scored Guile. Nebraska then added two more when Haget followed with a two-run single past the diving second baseman and into center field.

In the top of the fifth, NU exploded for six more runs. Junior Crystal Gonzalez began the inning with a single to left. An error put runners at first and third before Gay picked up her third RBI of the day with a fielder’s choice. Guile then doubled to score Gay before Foland followed with an RBI single to score Southworth. Leading 14-0, Bellevue recorded the second out of the inning before Tyson walked and Drake followed with an RBI single. Haget and Barrett then added back-to-back RBI single to make the score 17-0.

Hupp made it 18-0 when she belted an 0-1 pitch over the wall in left for a one-out solo homer in the top of the sixth. A two-out RBI single from freshman Kyle Muir then made the score 19-0. A Bruin error then brought sophomore Kirby Wright home with the Huskers’ 20th run.

The Huskers failed to score in the top of the seventh before Hupp retired the side in the bottom of the frame to wrap up the victory.

Mackin earned the win, allowing two hits and striking out three in four innings of work. Hupp pitched the final three innings, striking out six while allowing only two hits.
