Amanda Jeffries is a senior on the Nebraska rifle team this season. A native of Norman, Okla., Jeffries is an accounting and finance major. Jeffries has been the top overall shooter for Nebraska two years in a row, and is having a successful senior season at Nebraska, averaging 581 in air rifle and 571.5 in smallbore.
Let's get to know Jeffries a little better.
When did you first get interested in rifle and who got you started?
"I started rifle when I was nine. My father and grandfather took me to a rifle practice for our local 4-H club and I was hooked."
What is your favorite rifle memory growing up?
"My favorite rifle memory was traveling to Germany and the Czech Republic for a rifle match with the U.S. National Development team."
Favorite discipline, smallbore or air rifle?
"I don't have a favorite."
Interests besides rifle?
"Rock climbing."
Any superstitions or routines before shooting?
"Listening to music."
Favorite TV show
"House or Bones."
Thing I miss most about my hometown of Norman, Okla.
"Family."
