Tulsa, Okla--- Christopher Aumueller (Neb.) will play in the finals of the Wilson/ITA Central Regional Championships after winning his quarterfinal and semifinal matches on Sunday in Tulsa, Okla. Aumueller, who entered the tournament ranked at No. 59 in the country, will face off against the top-ranked player in the nation Okeksandr Nedovyesov (Okla. St.) in the finals.
In the quarterfinals, Aumueller defeated Ionut Beleleu (Okla.) 6-4, 7-6, to advance to the semifinals against Tobias Wernet (Minn.), who entered the tournament ranked at No. 51 in the nation. In the semifinals, Aumueller started fast and didn't look back defeating Wernet 6-1, 7-5, to move to the finals. Head coach Kerry McDermott has been impressed with the way his talented sophomore has performed throughout the tournament.
"Christopher has played a really good tournament so far," McDermott said. "I think what I'm seeing is, he is getting better and better with every match and believes in his abilities more with every match he plays. Hopefully he can continue that tomorrow and bring home the title."
In other singles action, David Bendheim (Neb.) had his tournament run ended in the quarterfinals when he was defeated by Chirs Nott (Ark) 6-3, 7-5.
In doubles play, Aumueller and Benedikt Lindheim (Neb.) fell to Philip Stephens and Ashley Watling (Tulsa) in the semifinals 8-4.
