Lincoln - The Nebraska swimming and diving team picked up its first dual win of the season on Saturday with a 188.5-107.5 victory over UNO at the Devaney Natatorium.
The Huskers took the first seven events of the day, including a pair of Mariah Hutchinson victories in the 1,000-yard freestyle and the 200-yard butterfly. Nebraska finished 1-2-3 in five of the seven events and the Huskers held a 111.5-19.5 lead at the first diving break.
D'Arcy Schmidt won the three meter dive with a score of 262.88, with Kaitlan Walker taking second and Amy Herman taking third, extending Nebraska's lead.
Hutchinson added her third win of the day shortly after in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:27.37. The Huskers swam exhibition for the final four swimming events as they already had the meet in hand by then.
Freshman Courtney Rhodenbaugh earned her first career victory in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.26. Hailey Dean, Brandie Kavalec, Kelsey Grushecky and Karen Criss all had a win on the day as well. Jess Andrews had the fastest time in the 100-yard butterfly, but didn't score as she was swimming exhibition.
Amy Herman won the one meter dive for her first career victory, with Schmidt coming in second and Walker taking third.
Nebraska improves its all-time record over UNO to 13-0 with the victory and improve to 1-1 on the season. The Huskers have next weekend off before hosting South Dakota in a dual on Nov. 7.
