One thing seems clear in a current Nebraska Fan Poll on Huskers.com - Oklahoma is the Huskers' biggest rival in football, even though NU and OU no longer play on an annual basis.
Nebraska's biggest football rival behind OU is where the real competition is, and Missouri and Colorado have been trading places in the poll on a daily basis throughout the week.
By mid-Thursday afternoon, with nearly 7,000 votes cast, Missouri had 1,336 votes, and Colorado had 1,308 votes from fans who considered either the Tigers or the Buffs as the Huskers' biggest rival.
Oklahoma has been the clear-cut leader since the Fan Poll started and was approaching 4,000 votes by Thursday afternoon. The Sooners commanded 57.4 percent of the vote. MU had 19.5 percent and Colorado 19.2 percent, followed by Kansas with 2 percent, Kansas State with 1.1 percent and Iowa State with less than 1 percent.
The only interesting part of the poll yet to be determined is who's the Huskers' biggest rival behind OU? Is it Missouri, or is it Colorado?
Here's another way to put it: Who gets your blood boiling the most? Missouri or Colorado? Interesting question for many.
Perhaps your fondest memory is "the kick" that ended up in the hands of Matt Davison in a miracle finish at Missouri in 1997.
Or maybe your favorite dramatic ending was "The Kick" that sailed through the uprights from a record 57 yards last year in Lincoln, stealing victory from a CU team that had played one of its best games all season.
However you viewed those two games may determine which of those two teams you consider a bigger rival.
While the Sooners have the biggest rival honor all but locked up, your vote will detemine which North Division rival finishes behind them.
The Fan Poll ends at midnight on Friday, Oct. 9.
Results, of course, are more fun than meaningful.
Please, though, vote anyway.
