Husker Alums Prevail in Alumni Meet

Lincoln - The Nebraska alumni came out on top in the annual Alumni Meet at the Devaney Natatorium on Saturday morning. Around 30 former Huskers showed up and competed in the meet, with alums ranging from the class of 1947 to the class of 2009. 

The alumni took 10 out of the 14 events on the day, led by Erik Wilken's three wins in the 50-yard butterfly, 50-yard freestyle and the 25-yard freestyle. Mike Irvin won two events for the alums, the 100-yard breaststroke and the 100-yard freestyle.

For the Huskers, Hailey Dean took first in the 50-yard breaststroke. Kaitlin Arntz won the 500-yard freestyle and D'Arcy Schmidt won in the one meter dive.

The Huskers begin their regular season on Oct. 10 with a home dual against Illinois. The meet will start at 11 a.m. in the Devaney Natatorium.
