Huskers Host Wayne State Tonight

Lincoln - The Nebraska softball team hosts a doubleheader scrimmage with Wayne State tonight at Bowlin Stadium beginning at 6 p.m. Admission is free for both games and live stats will be available on Huskers.com.

NU returns to the diamond just two days after sweeping a doubleheader from UNK. On Wednesday night, the Huskers won game one by a score of 12-1 before completing the sweep with a 6-2 victory in the nightcap. Nebraska was outstanding offensively, as the Huskers hit .477 in the two games, producing 31 hits. Ten Huskers hit at least .500, led by a 3-for-3 effort from sophomore Madison Drake. The middle of the NU order also produced as junior Julie Brechtel and sophomore Ashley Guile combined for two doubles, two home runs and six RBIs.

In the circle, juniors Robin Mackin and Tori Tyson both had scoreless outings, as Mackin did not allow a hit in her four-inning start in game two, while Tyson threw three innings of scoreless relief in game one. Overall, the Husker staff allowed only two earned runs in the two games, while limiting UNK batters to just 10 hits.

Following Friday's doubleheader with Wayne State, Nebraska will be off until next weekend, when the Huskers host the Big Red Fall Classic at Bowlin Stadium. More information on that event, including a Strike Out Cancer fundraiser, will be posted on Huskers.com next week.
