Lincoln--- The Nebraska men's tennis team will begin its fall season with two nationally ranked players for the first time in program history after the ITA released its preseason rankings on Sept., 3. Sophomore Christopher Aumueller will begin the season ranked at No. 59 while senior David Bendheim checked in at No. 75.
Last season, Aumueller was second on the team in wins with 18 and finished with an impressive 4-2 mark in Big 12 play while playing the majority of the year at the No. 3 spot. He went on to finish the season ranked at No. 97 becoming the first Husker to finish inside the top 100 since Lance Mills did it in 2002 and was also named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year for his work after the season.
Bendheim played the majority of the season at the Huskers No. 1 spot and played against some of the premiere players in the nation. He finished the season with a 12-11 record in the spring and a 10-10 record at the top spot. The German native appeared in the rankings twice last season reaching No. 94 on April 13, 2008.
The Huskers fall season is set to begin on Friday, September 11, when they travel to Charlottesville, Va., to participate in the Virginia Fall Classic.
