Huskers Hit Field for Third of Four Two-a-Days

The Nebraska football team resumed two-a-days Wednesday with a 2 ½-hour morning workout inside the Hawks Championship Center. The Huskers began practice inside Memorial Stadium, but a rain shower forced the team indoors shortly after the start of practice.

"We had a lot of different situations," Head Coach Bo Pelini said. "We did a little more goal line today, we did some coming out. We did some situational football, some first-and-ten and third downs, so we had a lot of situations today and got a lot covered."

Wednesday's practices mark the fourth and fifth of nine workouts this week. Pelini has preached perseverance and toughness from his players this week, but said he hasn't seen it at all times.

"We're not consistent enough," Pelini said. "It's an everyday thing. It's something we're trying to fight through every day. I'm not going to be happy until I see it from every guy, and right now I'm not seeing it from every guy on a consistent basis."

The fast pace of fall camp can be overwhelming particularly for freshmen, as they try to prepare for the physicality of college football, as well as learn the mental aspect. Pelini said it takes a long time for freshmen to get adjusted.

"That's why you don't see a lot of freshmen playing," Pelini said. "It depends on the position. We're throwing a lot at them. It's in their early stages of development right now. Some guys are a little further than others. A lot of that's position specific."

The Huskers practice again Wednesday at 3:45 p.m.
