The Nebraska football team practiced for nearly three hours inside Memorial Stadium in helmets and pads Saturday. The workout marked the first time this fall Nebraska has practiced in the stadium, and the Huskers finished the session with an hour-long scrimmage.
“We had a good long go today,” Head Coach Bo Pelini said. “We’re coming along. We’re well on our way, but we’ve got a long journey ahead of us.”
Pelini said he saw both good and bad things in the day’s practice, especially during the scrimmage.
“I saw some good things. I thought we were sloppy at times. We had too many penalties on both sides. There’s some things we need to get cleaned up, but that’s about what you’d expect at this point in time.”
Pelini said junior quarterback Zac Lee is starting to earn trust and confidence from the rest of the offense.
“That’s something you earn over time, and I think he is starting to earn that," Pelini said. "I think his confidence is growing every day, and as that happens, you see the confidence around him growing. I think everybody feels the way I do. I think everyone would agree that we’re seeing great things from Zac.”
After practicing for eight straight days to open up fall camp, the Huskers will have Sunday off. The team will return to the practice fields on Monday with a pair of practices.
