Zac Lee
Junior, Quarterback
On being the No. 1 quarterback heading into camp
“I’m definitely going to be a little bit busier during camp this year than I was last year and I think it will be nice. I’ve always been someone where, especially with Coach Watson, where you have to prepare like a starter no matter where you are in the depth chart. I don’t think that will change necessarily, but there’s definitely a little more load on my shoulders which I’m more than willing to carry.”

On Lee’s relationship with the receivers
“I grew a lot with the receivers. We developed a lot of chemistry with everyone. All the receivers had great summers. I can’t think of a guy who didn’t show up to work hard every time we were out there. I definitely think we’re even farther than we were going into spring ball, which is the goal going into summer to keep progressing and developing chemistry and to get better.”

On the balance of skills and team chemistry
“Everyone is talented. People wouldn’t be Division I football players if they weren’t talented. I think the place where you get that advantage and get that edge is with chemistry, especially with our offense. Chemistry is the key. That was Joe (Ganz) and Nate (Swift)’s key, so chemistry is a real big factor because everyone is talented.”

On the keys to chemistry
“Just be together as much as possible. Always push each other and keep each other accountable, whether it’s a freshman keeping a senior accountable or a third-string guy keeping a first-string guy accountable. We can’t have egos because then that causes disruption, so we hold each other accountable and do as much together as we can as a team.”

On being a leader
“I really just try to be me. I don’t try to be someone I’m  not. I don’t try to force myself on to people. So if me just being me ends up being a good leader, then that’s obviously what we want. This is part of the reason you come to Nebraska. It’s part of the reason of becoming a quarterback here. I definitely feel at ease about it.”

On being ready to be a leader
I’ve been here for two and a half years now, it’s something I’ve always wanted and always prepared myself for. Am I excited about it? Yes. Am I anxious about it? Sure. But I’m definitely prepared more than anything and I feel really ready for it.”
