Nebraska senior Cassandra Leuthold earned a spot on the 2009-10 Junior Team USA after finishing third at the USBC Junior Gold Championships.
Over the six-day tournament, Leuthold won nine games, lost seven games and rolled a total pinfall of 9,416. Leuthold makes the Junior Team USA for the second time in her career, as she competed for the team during the 2006-07 season.
Other bowlers earning spots on the 2009-10 Junior Team USA squad are Maggie Zakrzewski, Josie Earnest and Brittni Hamilton. The National Selection Committee awarded two girls at-large spots from the pool of athletes including Kristie Petravich and Kim Yioulos.
Leuthold had another stellar season for the Huskers during the 2008-09 season, as she earned three first-place finishes on the season before capturing the prestigious Most Outstanding Player award at the 2009 NCAA Bowling Championships for assisting the Nebraska bowling team to the 2009 NCAA Championship title.
