Lincoln - Four Nebraska women's golfers captured spots on the All-American Scholar Team announced by the National Collegiate Golf Coaches Association on Thursday, adding to the Huskers' nation-leading total of all-time NGCA Scholastic All-Americans.
JC Stevenson led Nebraska's contingent of four NGCA Scholastic All-Americans by collecting her third national academic award. The Grand Island, Neb., native will have a chance to become Nebraska's third four-time NGCA Scholastic All-American next season as a senior elementary education major, joining Jackie Beste (2003-06) and Allison Stewart (2005-08).
Fellow 2008-09 junior Charlotte Wendner claimed her first NGCA Scholastic All-America award. The native of Bjarred, Sweden is a two-time academic All-Big 12 selection as a business administration major. She also earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Championship Team in 2009.
Sophomore Rachel Hanigan added her first appearance on the NGCA Scholastic All-America team as a biological systems engineering major. The Dunlap, Iowa native also earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors in 2009.
Maddie Sheils, a true freshman from Boise, Idaho, rounded out Nebraska's quartet of NGCA Scholastic All-Americans, increasing NU's all-time nation-leading total to 54 awards. Sheils became the 25th Husker golfer in history to claim an NGCA Scholastic All-America honor.
