Crick Advances to U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship

Nebraska men's golfer Brandon Crick ran away from the competition with a seven-stroke victory over his nearest competitor at the U.S. Amateur Public Links Sectional Qualifier at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club on Monday. Crick's victory qualified him for the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship, to be played July 13-18 at Jimmie Austin Golf Course in Norman, Okla.

Crick shot rounds of 69 and 71 to finish at 140 in the blistering heat. Wes Kosch, of Omaha, finished second with a 147 (72-75). Husker junior Mike Coatman tied for third with a 149 (71-78).

Crick also qualified for the Public Links last summer, earning the 6th-seed among 156 golfers after 36 qualifying holes. He lost to the eventual runner-up after 20 holes in the first round of match play.
