Christine Costello, a junior on the Nebraska rifle team, was honored as one of 30 Nebraska student-athletes to receive a Life Skills Hero award on Sunday for demonstrating outstanding leadership and citizenship and becoming a role model in the process.
Also, three current members of the NU rifle team and three former Huskers were honored at the 2009 Student-Athlete Recognition Banquet at the Bob Devaney Center.
Husker junior Ryann McGough earned highest honors, while her teammates Costello and Amanda Jeffries earned high honors and honors, respectively.
Former Huskers Kim Chrostowski, Katie Harrington and Kirsten Weiss all garnered highest honors as well.
Sixty-seven Huskers earned gold medallions for highest academic honors (3.75-4.0 grade-point average). There were 50 silver medallions for high honors (3.5-.3749 GPA) and 124 bronze medallions for honors (3.0-3.499 GPA).
