Des Moines, Iowa ? The Nebraska track and field team made its first appearance at the 100th Annual Drake Relays on Thursday afternoon with the running of the men’s 10,000-meter run. The four-day meet, which runs through Saturday night, got its start on Wednesday with the men’s decathlon and women’s heptathlon.
Todd Gulizia, Anthony Oberle and Peter Falcon took to the Drake Stadium blue oval at 3:45 p.m., with each finishing in the 10K top 20. Gulizia paced the three Huskers with a personal-best time of 31:44.38, placing him seventh overall and sixth among collegiate runners. Oberle was next to cross the line in 10th with a time of 31:49.87, followed by Falcon in 17th with a personal best of 32:23.93.
The Huskers will return to Drake Stadium Friday morning at 10 a.m. for the women’s pole vault. The Big Red will also be competing at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa., where the men’s 400-meter hurdles will be the first to hit the track at 9 a.m. For more information about each meet, including live results and a complete schedule, check the track and field page on Huskers.com.
