Lincoln- Despite performing without the presence of her teammates, Nebraska All-American Kylie Stone ended the 2009 season by notching second-team All-America honors on bars after competing in the Thursday evening preliminary session of the 2009 NCAA Championships at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.?
Stone, who had been battling injury since Monday, was slated to rotate with Alabama as an all-arounder but only competed on bars. She tallied a score of 9.85 to tie for seventh and earn the second All-American award of her career.?
“I’m sad for her, just because I know she’s earned it because of what she has done all year long,” Head Coach Dan Kendig said. “I am proud of the fact that she was able to compete and do something tonight.”
Even without Nebraska representation in the team or individual finals, Kendig is encouraging all fans to get their tickets for what he promises will be an exciting national title competition.
“The atmosphere for team finals is unlike any other,” Kendig said. “It’s going to be unbelievable in here, and I encourage everyone to get their tickets.”
Tomorrow’s Super Six Finals begin at 6 p.m. at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. Tickets can be purchased at the Nebraska Ticket Office or by calling 800-8BIGRED. Tickets can also be purchased at the Bob Devaney Sports beginning at 4 p.m.
