Gleadall Ties for Sixth at UNLV

Boulder City, Nev. - True freshman Natalie Gleadall finished in a tie for sixth to help the Nebraska women's golf team to a 10th-place finish at the 18-team UNLV Spring Invitational on Wednesday afternoon.

Gleadall, who was tied for the individual lead through two rounds, added a solid round of 75 in the final round to finish with a career-best tournament score of 219 in the 96-player field.

Junior JC Stevenson produced the best round of the day for the Huskers with a one-over-par 73 to finish in 51st place at 232, while fellow junior Charlotte Wendner added her best round of the tournament with a 74 to finish in 71st at 239.

Sophomore Mary Kate Bird completed Nebraska's team score of 299 in the third round with a 77 to finish in a tie for 40th at 230. True freshman Maddie Sheils also fired her best round of the tournament with a 78 to close in a tie for 85th at 244.

As a team, Nebraska wrapped up the tournament with a three-round score of 917 on the 6,234-yard layout at the Boulder Creek Golf Club.

The hosts from UNLV won the tournament title with a final-round 289 to finish at 884, holding off runner-up Texas Tech, which also managed a 289 on Wednesday to finish two shots back at 886. Georgia took third with a 290 at 894, while Washington posted the best round of the day with a six-under-par 282 to finish in a tie for fourth with fellow Pac-10 foe Oregon in fourth at 895.

Georgia's Mallory Hetzel and Marta Silva shared the individual title with three-round totals of 214. Hetzel sizzled on Wednesday with a four-under-par 68, while Silva added a two-under-par 70.

Nebraska resumes play in its spring season at the Mountain View Collegiate, March 28-29.
