Stone, Woo Sweep Weekly Big 12 Awards

Irving, Texas ? Junior Kylie Stone and senior Tricia Woo were honored as Big 12 Gymnast and Event Specialist of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. This is the second time this season the duo has swept the weekly awards, and it is the fifth award of both gymnasts’ careers.

 

Stone, an All-American on vault, won two individual titles, including her fourth all-around crown, to lead No. 12 Nebraska to a 196.225 top finish at the Masters Classic. Stone tied with No. 3 UCLA’s Elyse Hopfner-Hibbs for first in the all-around with a career-high 39.475 and also placed first on floor with a score of 9.90. She is ranked 20th nationally in the all-around and eighth on floor.

 

Woo, a three-time All-American on beam and floor, was recognized as Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week after capturing her fifth beam title of the season with a mark of 9.85 in NU’s win at the Masters Classic. The three-time All-American also tallied a career-best 9.95 on vault to tie for second, only finishing behind UCLA’s Vanessa Zamarripa, who scored a perfect 10.0. Woo is ranked as the No. 6 beam worker nationally.

 

Nebraska travels to No.14 Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 28. Competition is set to begin at 5 p.m. (CST) at the Crisler Arena.
