Lincoln--The Nebraska men’s tennis team had six current and one former player named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll for the 2008 fall semester, which was released Wednesday, Feb. 11. A student-athlete must maintain a 3.0 GPA or better throughout the duration of a semester to be honored.
Senior captain Renato Melo was honored for the sixth time in his career. Along with Melo, fellow Huskers Christopher Aumueller (first), Taylor Boney (third), Calin Paar (second), Hendrik Stahmer (fourth) and Francois Van Impe (fifth) were also honored by the Big 12. Former Husker Karl Jones was named to the honor roll for the first time. Jones finished his tennis career last season for the Huskers and is working towards earning his degree in English.
Overall, a total of 324 Nebraska student-athletes earned at least a 3.0 GPA during the fall, including 38 student-athletes who posted 4.0 grade-point averages.
