Huskers Continue Homestand With Two Matches
The Nebraska women’s tennis team continues its nine-match homestand to begin the season this weekend with a pair of matches, against Eastern Michigan on Friday, Feb. 13, and against ColoradoState on Sunday, Feb. 15. The Huskers are a perfect 15-0 all-time combined against the two opponents.
Nebraska won two matches last week, beating Wyoming 7-0 and Drake 6-1. The victory over Drake snapped the team’s streak of 12 straight non-conference home sweeps, which dated back to last year. NU has still won 90 of its last 93 home non-conference matches dating back to 1998, and will look to extend that streak this weekend.
Nebraska will still have four more home matches after this weekend before it finally hits the road on March 4th against a ranked WichitaState team.
Scouting the Eagles
The 2-4 Eastern Michigan Eagles have had a tough early-season schedule, as all four of their losses have come to ranked opponents, including future Nebraska opponents OklahomaState and WichitaState. Senior Joanna Woo is the team’s lone upperclassman, and is one of EMU’s top players.
Scouting the Rams
Colorado State came out of its three-match weekend in Boise last week with a 1-2 record, with a win over UtahState and losses to BoiseState and KansasState. CSU is led by seniors Greer Satherlie and Lauren Strasburger, who along with six juniors give the Rams a strong upperclassmen foundation.
Huskers Add Nebraska-Kearney to Schedule
The Nebraska women’s tennis team has added Nebraska-Kearney to its home schedule this year. The teams will meet next Friday, Feb. 20, at 4 p.m. at the NebraskaTennisCenter. The matchup will be the first-ever meeting between the Huskers and Lopers.
