10 Huskers Capture Big 12 Honor Roll Spots

Lincoln - Carolyn Schorgl and Kate White posted perfect 4.0 grade-point averages to lead an impressive contingent of 10 Nebraska women's golfers on the Big 12 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll during the fall semester.

Schorgl, a freshman from Leawood, Kan., produced a 4.0 GPA in her first semester as a business administration major at Nebraska. White, a junior history major from Waukegan, Ill., added a 4.0 GPA for the Huskers.

Elli Brown a senior at Nebraska in 2007-08, earned a spot on the honor roll before earning her bachelor's degree in December as a business administration major. A native of Meridian, Idaho, Brown was a first-team All-Big 12 selection in 2007 and a two-time first-team academic All-Big 12 pick as a Husker.

Megan Place, a senior for the Huskers in 2009, earned her ninth consecutive spot on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll. Place is an art history and criticism major from Omaha.

JC Stevenson, a junior from Grand Island, Neb., continued to build on her impressive credentials on the course and in the classroom during the fall. The elementary education major earned her fifth straight appearance on the honor roll after leading the Huskers with a 75.87 stroke average. Stevenson is a two-time NGCA Scholastic All-American and claimed first-team academic All-Big 12 honors as a sophomore last season.

Fellow junior Charlotte Wendner earned her fourth spot on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll. Wendner is a business administration major from Bjarred, Sweden, who claimed first-team academic All-Big 12 accolades in 2008.

Redshirt sophomore Rachel Hanigan (Dunlap, Iowa) claimed her fifth appearance on the honor roll as a biological systems engineering major, while redshirt freshman Kayla Knopik (Papillion, Neb.) earned her second appearance on the honor roll.

True freshmen Natalie Gleadall (Stratford, Ontario, Canada) and Maddie Sheils (Boise, Idaho) rounded out the list of Husker honorees with their first appearances on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Overall, Nebraska placed 324 student-athletes on the 2008 Fall Big 12 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll, including 38 student-athletes who posted perfect 4.0 GPA semesters. In order to claim a spot on the honor roll, a student-athlete must produce a 3.0 GPA for the semester.
