McGough Claims Individual Title Against West Virginia

Ryann McGough posted the top combined smallbore and air rifle score, but it wasn't enough as the No. 2 West Virginia Mountaineers defeated the No. 16 Nebraska rifle team Friday, 4,650-4,622.

McGough claimed the smallbore title with a career-high 588 total, which beat her closest competitor by seven points. A 584 air rifle score gave McGough a combined score of 1,172 and beat out West Virginia's Tommy Santelli by 10 points.

Despite the loss, the score was the best one posted by the Huskers this season. Previously, NU's season-best was 4,619. Against the Mountaineers, the Huskers performed especially strong in air rifle, shooting a season-best 2,329. 

Results of Saturday's match against N.C. State will be posted late Saturday night.
