After a two-month break, the 16th-ranked Nebraska rifle team is set to get back in action this weekend, as the Huskers head to Morgantown, W. Va., to face the No. 2 West Virginia Mountaineers and No. 18 N.C. State Wolfpack.
The Huskers enter the pair of matches with a 3-3 record in shoulder-to-shoulder matches and a 4,599 aggregate average team score. Amanda Jeffries leads NU with a 587.5 air rifle average. Ryann McGough holds a team-best 574.3 smallbore average.
The Mountaineers are 6-1 in shoulder-to-shoulder matches this season and score a team average of 4,650. Their only loss is to the top-ranked Kentucky Wildcats.
The Wolfpack have captured three-straight meet titles against a combined 13 opponents and shoot a 4,490 aggregate average.
"After the break I am hoping that the girls were able to rest up and will be back to full capacity," said NU Rifle Coach Morgan Hicks. "We had some injuries before the break that limited us. We are looking to start off the season strong and show that we are capable of shooting much higher scores than we have the first semester. With NCAA qualifiers just a month away, we need to start off on the right foot, and I think the team is ready to do that."
