Big 12 vs. Mountain West Conference Challenge

Meet Information
Competition Teams:
- Mountain West Squad: Air Force, Wyoming, Colorado State
- Big 12 Squad: Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska
Entries:
- Two athletes per school, per event for a total of six entries per Squad.
- One relay per team for a total of six relays.
- All running events will be conducted as finals against time.
- Horizontal jumps and throwing event competitors will receive three preliminary jumps/throws. There will then be a five minute break and the top eight competitors from the preliminary round will receive three more jumps/throws.
- NEW FOR 2009! If any team does not use their full complement of entries in an event, the other teams on that squad will be allowed to enter additional athletes so all the fields are full (12 competitors). Please consult with the other coaches on your squad to make these arrangements. Please notify T. J. Pierce of any of these situations.
? New NCAA Rule: Section 1. Misconduct: Misconduct is any act of dishonesty, unsportsmanlike conduct, unprofessional behavior or breach of law occurring at the locale of the competition or warm-up, that discredits the event or intercollegiate athletics. Misconduct includes the intentional reporting of false marks for entry purposes. Acts of misconduct are subject to reprimand or ejection by the referee or meet management.
Seeding:
- Running events will be seeded in the standard dual meet format with athletes from each Squad (not teams) in alternating lanes. In running events with more than one section, the Squad (not team) with the fastest seed times will compete in the last section, while still preserving the dual meet, alternating lane format.
Lanes:
- For the 60m Dash and 60m Hurdles, lanes 1-8 will be used.
- For the 200m, 400m dashes and 4x400m relays, lanes 3-6 will be used.
- For the 600y Run, lanes 1-6 will be used.
Team Scoring:
- Dual meet scoring. The top two individuals from each Squad will score.
- Individual events: 5-3-2-1, relay events: 5-3.
Entry Procedures:
- On-line only at ASPi Solutions. The entry link will be emailed to each team.
- Make sure to print out a hard copy for your records after you have declared.
- You may begin processing entries on December 24th, 2008. Final entries must be declared no later than January 20th, 2009 by 7:00 PM CDT.
Entry Fees:
- None
Packet Pickup:
- Available from 9 am - 3 pm Friday, January 23rd in the Track & Field Office (1631 Court Street); or day of meet at the meet management tower, northwest corner of the indoor track arena.
Relay Cards:
- Due 30 minutes before the start of the Relay - turn them into the meet management tower, northwest corner of the indoor track arena. PLEASE HELP US RECOGNIZE YOUR ATHLETES DURING THE COMPETITION BY TURNING IN YOUR RELAY CARDS PROMPTLY.
Check-in:
- Track Athletes - check in 30 minutes prior to your event on the track. Pick up your hip numbers at the table located along the north wall in Area 4. Ten minutes prior to your event, report to the clerk of the course at the start area. The backstretch is available to competing athletes for warm up.
- Field event athletes - report to the head event official 45 minutes prior to your event.
Implement Certification:
- All implements in both the Weight Throw and Shot Put will by checked-in by the Weights and Measures Certifying Official during the final call for each event.
- Please do not bring implements to the Inspection table before check-in.
- Coaches and athletes may use the infield equipment to “self-inspect” their implements prior to the first check-in of the day.
Shower Facilities:
? Available on the north side of the track in the upstairs locker rooms (which will have signs on the doors). Please bring your own towels.
Facility Restrictions:
- The use of ?” pyramid spikes will be strictly enforced. No marking chalk will be allowed on track or runways. No hard shell 20# or 35# weights allowed.
Pre-Meet Warm-Up:
- The indoor track arena is available from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Friday, January 25th.
Training Room:
- Located at the north end of the track to the right of the concession stand. Please refer to the track diagram and memo from the Nebraska Track & Field Trainer for additional information.
Team Parking:
- All team vans and buses park along the street on the north side of the Bob Devaney Sports Center. No special parking pass is required.
Results and POP forms:
? Results and POP forms will be available in the press area as soon as possible after the meet is completed. Results will be posted during the meet in the track arena. A formal copy of the results will be made available on our website at www.huskers.com.

NWU Invite:
- Following the completion of the Conference Challenge, Nebraska Wesleyan University will host the NWU Invite, beginning at 5:45pm. This competition is open to all teams competing in the Conference Challenge. Doubling of athletes is allowed, but no athlete will be allowed to compete in the same event in both competitions. Please remember, NCAA rules do not permit an athlete to achieve a qualifying mark on the second competition in the same day.
